Dinner Smells Good

A show-case in multi-sensory communication has been created by artists working alongside a group of people with learning disabilities from Merseyside.

The Access to Heritage Project is a forum made up of people with learning disabilities and their support workers. They have been looking into ways of making information at Liverpool's museums, galleries, and other visitor attractions more accessible. Since August last year, the forum has been working with designers as St Georges Hall has developed its new visitor centre to make sure that every aspect of it is as accessible as possible.

The result is a unique piece of interpretation based on a banquet held in St Georges Hall in 1857. The banquet is experienced through smell, touch, sound, symbols and is totally interactive.

The Aroma Co have been proud to be involved in this project, creating a Scented Menu in conjunction with artist Sally Olding. The menu features four different areas of fragrance: Fish Soup, Roast Chicken, Apple Pie and Red Wine. Screen printed in four different blocks, the fragrances have been developed to provide a unique and engaging opportunity to whet diners' appetites.

The exhibition is open from 23rd April until 4th June 2007 in the community exhibition space at St Georges Hall
